Paris has always been a city that I've wanted to visit, so when Seware and I decided to go on a spur of the moment trip to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, I couldn't have been more excited. We stayed at La Clef Tour Eiffel Paris (part of The Crest Collection with The Ascott Limited), which is conveniently located a block away from Trocadéro and some of the best views of the Eiffel Tower. The staff is top-tier, the rooms are gorgeous, it's trendy, it's chic and we would return in a heartbeat.
La Clef Tour Eiffel is a 5-star property set in a 19th-century building designed by renowned architect Ricardo Bofill. The company rightfully describes it as “a contemporary embodiment of the Parisian joie de vivre.” There are 110 guestrooms on the premises, of which there are 7 different room types, including standard rooms, studios, apartments and the gorgeous Eiffel Tower Suite. Because of the variety of room options, it is perfect for visitors of all types, including couples, families and solo business travelers who are looking for an extended stay.
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
As first time visitors to Paris, we knew we wanted to stay somewhere that would grant us easy access to the typical tourist hot spots. But we also wanted to feel the historical charm of the city and to be within walking distance of great cafes and nightlife. La Clef Tour Eiffel is located in the heart of Paris' 16th arronissement, just steps away from Trocadéro, which happens to be one of the most popular locations for viewing the Eiffel Tower by both day and night. It is also in close proximity to Arc de Triomphe, which is just a 5-7 minute walk down Avenue Kléber, as well as Avenue des Champs-Elysées, which is great for dining and shopping.
We were able to walk to many of our destinations from the hotel and had no trouble finding an Uber within moments if we were traveling further. There is also a metro stop around the corner. In short, it is a prime location.
We stayed in an Executive Studio which had one of the hotel's four balconies. I cannot even explain how amazing it felt to wake up in the morning, mosey on out to our enormous balcony and take in the sights and sounds of Paris as the City of Light awoke. Or how indulgent it felt to order lunch to our room so we could dine in the fresh air in our own private space. To say we felt pampered would be putting in lightly! The views were absolutely stunning, to say the least. I found myself looking at the neighboring buildings in awe, finding it hard to believe that views like this are NORMAL in Paris. The architecture is seriously next-level.
The studio was incredibly comfortable, restocked with L'Occitane en Provence products daily, and had what my mom loves to call, “the frills,” aka wonderfully comfortable bathrobes and slippers. Needless to say, I LIVED in mine whenever we were lounging in our room.
Our studio had a kitchen with a two-burner stove top, a large refrigerator, a dishwasher and even a small (discreet!) laundry machine! We stay in hotels quite a bit and I have to say this was our first time being able to run our own load of laundry before traveling home. This was key because we have admittedly been those people to hand wash and hang dry some clothes in our room when the need arose. This time, unnecessary! Note: dry cleaning services are available as well.
During our stay we were also given the opportunity to spend some time in the beautiful Eiffel Tower Suite. It has a living room, a full kitchen, two bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms, a guest bathroom and most importantly, the most stunning view of the Iron Lady.
On site there is a large lounge and dining space which is used for breakfast in the morning as well as afternoon tea. This is also a great space for anyone who is working on the road; we took advantage of the lounge a handful of times when we needed to catch up on emails! There is also the option to order breakfast to your room in the morning if you'd prefer to stay in your robe and slippers. Which we obviously had to do!
There is also direct access to two gorgeous Michelan star restaurants. We, unfortunately, were not able to dine at them as they are currently undergoing some renovations, but they will be reopening soon! We did manage to sneak in a drink at one of the restaurant's bars and they had quite the creative cocktail menu!
The other amazing thing about this place? Their gym! You guys, their gym is amazing! It's hotels like this that make people like us book for the pure fact that the gym has so many options! Anyone who tries to stay on track while they travel knows that it's really hard to find a hotel with a decent fitness facility. Usually you will find a broken down treadmill, a stationary bike or elliptical, and free weights that go up to maybe 35-40lbs. Basically, super limiting.
Well, if you're staying in Paris and being able to get a good workout in is important to you, look no further than La Clef Tour Eiffel, because their facility is insanely good! It has all of the cardio equipment you may need, a huge amount of weight lifting options (including a squat rack, woo hoo!), and even a studio that holds regular classes with on-site trainers. The gym is open to people that are not guests of the hotel, but only if they have a special booking with one of the trainers, keeping the space quite exclusive. There are also steam rooms in each locker room.
- Fitness centre with private trainer & massages
- Daily tea
- Common areas to relax or work
- Business Corner and Boardroom
- Steam Rooms
- Breakfast (room service possible)
- Laundry & Dry-cleaning
- Valet & luggage services
- Direct access to two Michelin star restaurants
The hotel is a 30 minute Uber ride from the airport (without traffic), at a cost of about 45-50 €.
CONCIERGE & RECEPTION
The hotel's concierge and reception staff members were so out-of-this-world amazing that they deserve their own section. They were available 24 hours and were helpful in so many ways. From giving us great dining and nightlife recommendations to bringing us adapters, to helping Seware when his laptop broke and he needed to get it fixed within 48 hours! They literally got on the phone with Dell France and explained the issues he was having in French, and later coordinated with the Dell representative to have the computer fixed on-site while we were away at the Palace of Versaille. All without batting an eye. THAT is service, and we could not have been more grateful for the assistance! It also helped that they spoke impeccable English, which was helpful for us because neither of us know French… yet.
They also treated us so kindly by leaving scrumptious anniversary gifts in our room to find after a day of exploration! Champagne and macarons? Yes please! They truly made us feel special!
If you are visiting Paris for the first time or are a regular, I would highly recommend staying at La Clef Tour Eiffel Paris. If you do, be sure to tell them Katie at Life She Lives sent you! Au revoir!
Special thanks to Anita and the rest of the La Clef staff for making our stay unforgettable.
